Following the recent announcement of a €30.6 million investment to drive sustainable growth and innovation, N+P continues to strengthen its role in delivering circular waste solutions.
N+P is pleased to announce that its Crayford Material Recovery Facility (MRF) has received approval to extend its operational permit, allowing the facility to increase its annual processing capacity from 350 kilotonnes to 420 kilotonnes of locally sourced mixed household recycling.
The Crayford MRF plays a vital role in the regional waste management infrastructure, sorting and preparing recyclable material for recycling and resource recovery. While the facility has been operating at a permitted capacity of 350 kton per year, the strong operational expertise and efficient processing capabilities of the N+P team have demonstrated that additional capacity can be responsibly and safely managed.
The expansion comes at a time when waste volumes continue to increase globally. Despite ongoing initiatives aimed at prevention, packaging reforms, waste reduction and recycling, factors such as population growth and changing consumption patterns, including the rapid growth of e-commerce, are contributing to rising waste volumes that must be processed sustainably.
These developments place growing pressure on local authorities and waste management facilities to ensure waste and recycling streams are handled effectively and diverted from either incineration or landfill.
In response to this challenge, N+P has worked closely with local authorities to review the facility’s capabilities and identify opportunities to support the region’s waste management needs. As a result of this constructive collaboration, the permit extension enables the Crayford MRF to process up to 420 kton of mixed recycling per annum, strengthening regional capacity and supporting long-term continuity in waste processing. And at the same time, N+P continues to invest in optimising the purity and quality of the output, maximising the sorting and processing capabilities to deliver consistently high-quality materials, while increasing recovery rates.
“This permit extension represents an important step in addressing the increasing demand for responsible household Dry Mixed Recycling processing”
- Stephen Martins - Head of Municipal Development at N+P Group
“Our Crayford facility has consistently demonstrated strong operational performance and high quality output materials for recycling. By expanding our permitted capacity and investing in innovation, we can support local authorities and partners in managing waste streams more effectively while preventing landfill and maximizing resource recovery.”
The extended permit aligns with N+P’s recently announced €30.6 million investment, aimed at accelerating sustainable growth, operational improvements, and innovative waste-to-value solutions across the company’s facilities.
With the expanded capacity at Crayford, N+P continues to strengthen its mission of bridging waste to value and creating new perspectives for local waste solutions.
