On 26 June, we took part in the annual Waste World Cup, organised by LetsRecycle. It’s a football tournament that brings together around 25 teams from across the UK waste, recycling and energy-from-waste industry. It’s a well-known event in the sector and one that plenty of people look forward to every year.
This year, N+P was represented by three teams – TSP & HTP, Crayford, and a mixed team made up of colleagues from across the Group.
After a full day of football, one of our N+P teams went all the way and won the tournament, beating every team they came up against. It was great to see everyone supporting each other throughout the day, even after their own games had finished. That support and team spirit made the win even better.
The event was really well organised and, with the sun shining, it turned into a great day all round. After the football, everyone enjoyed some food, drinks and a chance to catch up away from work.
Days like this are about more than just football. They bring people together, help build relationships across our sites and other busiensses in industry network and give us the opportunity to spend some time together outside of work.
We’re already thinking ahead to next year. One idea is to organise our own N+P football tournament, bringing together teams from both our UK and Dutch sites, with the winners going on to represent N+P at the Waste World Cup. We’d also like to continue encouraging mixed teams, including women, making it a fun and inclusive event for everyone.
Well done to everyone who took part and helped bring the trophy home!
